About

Jaman lives in Little Rock, Ark., with his family. He is a documentary artist with a bias toward the human-made landscape, manual processes, and the physical object.

For five years, he curated a small exhibit space – the Sixth Street Library – that found various and unexpected ways to document the life of the Little Rock. It mapped the history of violence in the city's landscape; organized group walks following the original 1831 boundaries of the city; displayed earthenware vessels made from clay gathered from downtown buildings sites; and more. All as a way of getting people to see their city with fresh eyes.

For a number of years, he worked on his Eviction Quilts series, documenting Little Rock's places of worship, and exploring disparities of race, wealth, education, and violence in Little Rock.

He holds a Certificate in Documentary Arts from Duke University's Center for Documentary Studies and has also studied folklore in graduate school at UNC.
